UAE President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan received the organising team behind the UAE's 54th Eid Al Etihad celebrations, expressing appreciation for their successful execution of the nationwide festivities.
During the meeting in Abu Dhabi, Sheikh Mohamed greeted team members and praised their dedication in orchestrating the celebrations, which were held under the theme 'United' across all seven emirates from December 1-3, 2025.
Official ceremony at Zayed National Museum
The official ceremony took place at the Zayed National Museum in Abu Dhabi on December 2, attended by the UAE President and rulers of the emirates. The event featured elaborate creative and technical elements, including light shows, traditional Emirati-inspired costumes, orchestral pieces, and folk performances, with a debut performance by the UAE National Orchestra bringing the nation's history to life.
Members of the organising team conveyed their pride in contributing to celebrations that highlighted the UAE's deep-rooted history, journey, achievements, and future-focused aspirations reflecting the legacy of the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, Founding Father of the UAE, and the values shaping the nation's identity.
Historical significance of Eid Al Etihad
Eid Al Etihad commemorates December 2, 1971, when six emirates united to form the UAE, with Ras Al Khaimah joining the federation on February 10, 1972, completing the union of all seven emirates: Abu Dhabi, Dubai, Sharjah, Ajman, Umm Al Quwain, Ras Al Khaimah, and Fujairah. Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan served as the first President from the federation's formation until his death in 2004.
Year of Community celebrations
The 54th Eid Al Etihad celebrations took on special significance as they marked achievements during 2025, designated as the Year of Community. The festivities spanned three days with events including fireworks displays, cultural performances, parades, heritage activities, and family-friendly programmes across the nation.
The celebrations were deemed significant enough that December 1 and 2, 2025, were declared official paid holidays for the private sector by the Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation.
Team members expressed gratitude for the support they received from leadership, which they credited as instrumental in the success of the celebrations.
The meeting was attended by Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Chairman of the Presidential Court for Special Affairs; Sheikh Mohamed bin Hamad bin Tahnoon Al Nahyan, Advisor to the UAE President; and several officials.
